An Austrian Biedermeier klismos side chair from around 1830, its curved beechwood frame finished in a warm honey-brown patina with a mahogany-veneered back rail rolled softly at the crest.
The U-form back sweeps down from that rolled crest into sabre-cut rear legs mounted on their original brass castors, while the front legs turn to slender spike feet. A reupholstered Italian oil-tanned leather covers the seat, trimmed in a running line of brass round-head tacks.
Pull it up to a desk or set it at the head of a table. The U-shaped back gives just enough support without the bulk of a full armchair.
