An Agra pedestal table from the early 1900s pairs an octagonal white marble top with its original cast iron base. The top is inlaid in a radial floral arabesque of cornelian, malachite, and lapis lazuli, worked in the pietra dura technique long associated with the region. The cast iron base carries a pierced scrollwork foot and a turned baluster column. A marble plinth was added beneath the base at a later date to anchor it.

DIMENSIONS: 16" W (flat to flat) x 19" H

ORIGIN: Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India

PERIOD: early 1900s

MATERIALS: Marble inlaid with cornelian, malachite, and lapis lazuli; cast iron; paint

CONDITION: Base has been repainted at some point and is not in its original finish. Structurally stable, no damage to the marble top or cast iron base.
