A Chinese export porcelain octagonal plate decorated in the Imari palette of cobalt blue, oxide red, and gilt, made for the Western trade circa 1750-70. The central scene is an asymmetrical garden composition centered on a tea house, bordered by an inner band of cobalt linkage alternating with oxide and gilt quatrefoils. The rim carries a variation of the moth border, finished with a cobalt rope edge.

ORIGIN: China, made for the Western export trade

PERIOD: circa 1750-70

MATERIALS: Porcelain, cobalt underglaze blue, oxide red enamel, gilt

CONDITION: Minor glaze/gilt wear visible in a few spots along the rim edge.
