A gentleman's portrait miniature, hand-painted on bone and set in a gilt brass bezel with display loop, likely from Boston around 1810. The sitter is shown in a dark coat with a high white collar and cravat, rendered with the fine stippled brushwork typical of ivory miniature painting from this period. The bezel carries the scrolling foliate border characteristic of New England work of the era. Housed in a black wood shadow box, with a ribbon added for presentation.
