A pair of Balinese carved hardwood bust lamps, circa 1920-1940, depicting a man and a woman in formal traditional dress. The male figure wears a carved ornament tucked into the sash at the back of one shoulder, and both busts are signed on the underside, though the signature can no longer be read. Each is carved from Klungkung wood, a hardwood native to Bali, by the same hand. You can see it in the matched line and finish across the two figures. Each bust sits on a custom-cut coral stone base fitted with electrical conduit and a socket, wired for use as lamps.
