A pair of cast iron dolphin-form andirons by Bradley & Hubbard, manufactured in Meriden, Connecticut around 1900. Each dolphin's scaled tail curls back on itself and ends in a small acanthus scroll, with the pair positioned to face one another. The cast iron log rests can detach via a dovetail joint for moving or storage, a practical touch typical of the maker's construction. The scrolling acanthus work and dolphin silhouette place these in the Rococo Revival idiom that Bradley & Hubbard produced widely for the fireplace trade at the turn of the century.
