An abstract mixed media monotype by Barbara Romney, titled Pond Rocks II, rendered in a palette of green, gray, orange, and yellow. The composition offers an abstracted view of rocks emerging from water, with pale, faceted boulder forms breaking through broad planes of golden yellow and burnt orange. Vertical striations ripple across the warm tones, reading as reflections on the surface, while a jagged shoreline anchors the upper register against a muted sage background.
Romney, along with Isabel Fields, co-founded Printmakers Inc. at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia, an organization that, together with the Torpedo Factory itself, has grown into a major community hub and now hosts the largest number of publicly accessible working artist studios in the United States.
