Sixteen small gilt spheres line the cornice above a band of stamped shell and leaf ornament, echoed at either side by ring-turned, reeded half-columns. Those columns flank a two-part mercury amalgam mirror plate, the smaller upper pane separated from the larger lower one by a reeded horizontal bar, with a beaded rail closing out the base.

MAKER: Attributed to Waterhouse

DIMENSIONS: 28" W (at cornice) x 5-3/4" D x 49" H

ORIGIN: United States, Albany, New York

PERIOD: Federal era (American Sheraton), circa 1810

MATERIALS: White pine, gilt gesso, mirrored glass (original plates)

CONDITION: Very fine original condition, confirmed stable in person.
