A Danish tonalist seascape in oil on canvas, circa 1910. A row of weathered pilings marches out into calm water, leading the eye toward a horizon where a cool gray sky meets an equally gray sea, broken only by a scatter of distant sailboats. Up close, that grayness gives way: the shallows warm into amber and copper where the tide has pulled back. Signed lower right, though time has taken the signature past legibility. The top of the frame on the reverse is signed in graphite, but has also worn past legibility.
