An English silver-plated table lamp from the 1850s, built as a Doric column on a gadrooned drum plinth over a stepped circular foot. The proportions and reeded shaft follow the "Sheffield style" popular for mid-Victorian lighting, though the piece is attributed to Birmingham manufacture. It has been wired for electric use, fitted with a brass double socket for a pair of downlights. Sold without shade.

DIMENSIONS: 7" W (base) x 32" H

ORIGIN: Birmingham, England (attributed)

PERIOD: 1850-60

MATERIALS: Silver-plated nickel

CONDITION: Structurally stable with marks and wear to the silver plating as expected for a piece of this age. Electrified conversion from the lamp's original oil or kerosene fitting. The brass double-socket mechanism is a later addition, not original. An illegible maker's mark is present on the base but cannot be confidently read.
