A Victorian English majolica dessert plate, molded in low relief with a nasturtium pattern of overlapping peltate leaves, curling stems, and trumpet-shaped flowers. The relief is crisp, with fine veining etched into each leaf and petal that gives the surface real depth instead of a flat stamped pattern. The glaze is a deep, saturated green that pools darker in the recesses and lightens across the raised leaf surfaces, with the natural variation that comes from hand-glazing and kiln firing more than a century ago.
DIMENSIONS: 7-7/8" Diameter x 3/4" H
ORIGIN: England
PERIOD: Victorian, circa 1850-90
MATERIALS: Majolica
CONDITION: Very good overall condition. Small firing pits on the underside rim, consistent with kiln artifacts rather than damage. No chips or losses. Glaze pooling on front and back consistent with hand-applied majolica glaze of the period.
