A 1950s Murano handkerchief vase in hand-blown case glass, its folded rim rippling into the loose waves that give the fazzoletto form its name. The surface carries a dense mottling of black and olive-brown over a milky white ground. Held up to the light, the mottling shifts depth, reading almost like tortoiseshell in places. The base shows a cut and polished pontil mark, evidence of the hand-finishing that closes out the blowing process.
